Appraisal 2017

2017 Appraisal Goals

#1 Communicate at least twice a month with target student whanau, through a variety of different methods, about student learning, needs, progress and/or next steps.

#11 Use, record and collate evidence in Reading and Writing, in conjunction with the literacy progressions, for making Over All Teacher Judgements.

November 2017

1.  What is your biggest success?

  • I have been most happy with the sharing of learning that my class has been able to do over the year because of Seesaw.  Students have a real audience to share their learning with, and whanau are able to keep up to date with what students are doing in the classroom, while also giving their child feedback.  Having evidence of their work to look back on has also been very easy with having Seesaw in the classroom.  Progression books have worked well - I would like to use these more in 2018 - this takes a lot of time to set up, however if it can be passed onto the next year, students have a clear understanding of their own next steps.

2.  Where are you at with your goals?
  • #1 Going along well - there is still more work to do.  I would have to say that I haven't consistently contacted parents each fortnight but there has definitely been a lot more contact with whanau, which I am very happy about.

3.  Target students - what difference have you made? Evidence?
  • Confidence has been built, target students have made some progress over the year.  The majority have made accelerated progress.  Avoided filling gaps.  Some students made outstanding progress in Reading.  For students like Manaia, his confidence grew over the year, and with that his learning greatly improved.
4.  Changes for 2018?
  • Use progression books
  • Science and Social Studies start it early, a day a week or a science focus to understand the method, make it more regular
  • Continue with Seesaw
  • Children taking ownership and planning their days
  • Financial Literacy
  • Keep workshops
